World Championship France 2011
The 2011 WBFSH Young Breeders Championship saw 20 studbooks send a total of 118 competitors (plus a further 100 supporters in the form of reserves and team trainers and officials) to take part in the increasingly popular event, which was held near Lyon in Chazey sur Ain horse park on 22 and 23 July. Organised by the Selle Francais studbook, entries came from as far away as Sweden in the north and Slovenia in the south, and not only from across the English Channel and the Irish Sea but also from the other side of the Atlantic in the case of the Canadian and American Warmblood representatives.
Most studbooks entered both senior and junior teams and with both teams counting towards the overall winners. The six representatives of the Holsteiner Verband, whose consistency in coming both 2nd in the senior section on a score of 1013 with Jos Muffels (3rd ranked senior overall), Corinna Stoldt and Tjark Roll and 2nd in the junior section with 1030.5 from Jana Rehder (top junior and best individual overall), Jana Ehlers and Tina Rickers and a combined score of 2043. These results gave them the consistent results they needed to come above the top junior teams from Baden Wurttenburg (junior overall runner-up Sarah Maurer, Luka Bovensiepen and Anke Gaab) with 1040 and the top senior team of Sachsen Thuringen young breeders (senior overall winner Anna-Maria Deparade, Julian Wilke and Jakob Degenhardt) with 1024, whose scores when combined with their respective senior and junior teams left them in 3rd and 5th place respectively. Runner up studbook overall was that from Brandenburg whose teams were 3rd in both sections.
With seven new studbooks participating in 2011 the Young Breeders movement is swiftly developing into a truly world-wide one and all WBFSH studbooks are being encouraged to prepare teams for the next championships, which will take place in 2013at the Flyinge National Stud in Sweden.
